ANNUAL COMMEMORATION CEREMONIES
225TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEATHS OF KNOWLTON AND HALE Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Knowlton was killed leading his Rangers at the Battle of Harlem Heights, September 16, 1776. Captain Nathan Hale was hung as a spy on September 22, 1776 in New York City. Ceremonies will include a wreath laying and musket salute at the memorial to Lt. Col. Thomas Knowlton in the Snow Cemetery in Ashford, Connecticut. The Branch will then proceed to place 25 Revolutionary War Grave Markers and Flags for the remaining Revolutionary War Patriots buried in various cemeteries throughout Ashford, finishing the Branch’s two year Ashford project to mark all of the Towns Revolutionary War Veterans. We will then proceed to Coventry, Connecticut and place a wreath at the Captain Nathan Hale Monument.
